PRJ: Custom Report Changes Are Not Recorded
This article was previously published under Q113362
In Microsoft Project, when you turn on the macro recorder and edit a report, the changes you make to the report are not recorded in the macro.
Additionally, if you create a custom report while the recorded macro is
running, this action is not recorded in the macro.
The macro language in Microsoft Project does not include commands for
creating or editing a report.
Microsoft provides programming examples for illustration only, without warranty either expressed or implied. This includes, but is not limited to, the implied warranties of merchantability or fitness for a particular purpose. This article assumes that you are familiar with the programming language that is being demonstrated and with the tools that are used to create and to debug procedures. Microsoft support engineers can help explain the functionality of a particular procedure, but they will not modify these examples to provide added functionality or construct procedures to meet your specific requirements.
To create or edit a report using a macro, do either of the following:
- Use the Reports method to display the Reports dialog box so that the
Custom report option can be chosen.
-or-
- Use the SendKeys statement with the Reports method to
automate the process of selecting the Custom report option.
The following example displays the Custom Reports dialog box
and allows you to choose a report to edit or to create new
report:
Sub Create_or_Edit_Report
SendKeys "%us"
' Display Reports dialog box
Reports
End Sub
Note that you can modify this macro to automatically create a new report or to edit an existing report.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
