PRJ: Task Bar Prints with Blank Rows in Calendar View

This article was previously published under Q113725

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Project, when you print your project in the Calendar view, and a task bar on the calendar contains text that is wrapping, the printed task bar contains blank rows.

CAUSE

When you view your project in the Calendar view, a task bar height is calculated from the height of the font used for the text, the amount of text (if text wrapping is selected), and the width of the task bar. However, the width of a calendar day is different on the screen than it is when it's on a printed calendar, and the width of the screen characters may be different than the width of the printed characters. This difference in character width means that text in a task bar is wrapped differently on the screen than on the printout, resulting in a different number of rows of text in the printed task bar.

Note that the way the text wraps in the task bar on the calendar when you view your project in print preview is the same way it appears when you print the project.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
