Using the Trumpwsk.ini File to Configure TCP/IP Properties
This article was previously published under Q129131
This article contains information on the use of Windows with third-party
products or configurations that have not been tested and are not supported
by Microsoft.
If the steps or procedures described in this article do not function
properly, contact the manufacturer of the third-party product for more
information or use a supported configuration.
The TCP/IP network protocol is commonly used for connecting to an Internet
provider with Dial-Up Networking. If you are using the Trumpet utility to
connect to an Internet provider, information contained in the Trumpwsk.ini
file may be useful when you are configuring the TCP/IP protocol for use
with Dial-Up Networking. This article lists the entries in the
Trumpwsk.ini file that may be of use when you are configuring TCP/IP.
The following table lists the relevant entries in the [Trumpet Winsock]
section of the Trumpwsk.ini file and the corresponding entries from the
TCP/IP Properties dialog box:
Trumpwsk.ini Entry Corresponding TCP/IP Properties Entry
ip IP address on IP Address tab
netmask Subnet mask on IP Address tab
gateway Installed gateways on Gateway tab
dns DNS Server Search Order on DNS Configuration tab
domain Domain on DNS Configuration tab
slip-baudrate Maximum speed on General tab in Modem
properties. To view the properties for your
modem, double-click the Modems icon in
Control Panel, click the modem that you are
using for Dial-Up Networking, and click
Properties.
NOTE: Any Trumpwsk.ini entry not shown in the above table does not have a
corresponding entry in the TCP/IP Properties dialog box.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
