GP Faults Running QuickBooks 2.0 in Windows
This article was previously published under Q130147
When you perform tasks in Intuit QuickBooks version 2.0 or 3.0, you
receive various general protection (GP) fault error messages.
To correct this problem, use either of the following methods:
- Upgrade to QuickBooks version 3.1 or higher.
- Perform the following steps to run QuickBooks 2.0 or 3.0 in Windows 95:
- Use any text editor (such as WordPad) to open the WIN.INI file.
- Add the following line in the [Compatibility] section of the
WIN.INI file
where QBW is the module name for QuickBooks.
- Save and then close the WIN.INI file.
- Restart Windows 95.
NOTE: If you insert the "QBW=0x08000000" line in the WIN.INI file, you
must remove the line if you later upgrade to QuickBooks 3.1 or higher. If
you upgrade QuickBooks and do not remove this line, printing problems may
occur.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Windows 95
- Microsoft Windows 98 Standard Edition

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
