AOL Download Fails Over Dial-Up Networking TCP/IP Connection
This article was previously published under Q132062
When you are using the America Online software configured to use a
Transmission Control Protocol/Internet Protocol (TCP/IP) Winsock
connection instead of a modem connection, you receive the following error
message when you try to download a file from America Online over a Dial-Up
Networking TCP/IP Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) Internet connection:
This error message usually occurs when the download is approximately 50
percent finished. After the error message occurs, the file transfer is
halted and you are disconnected from America Online.
Upgrade your America Online software to version 2.5 or later. For
information about obtaining this software upgrade, please contact America
Online Technical Support.
Configuring the America Online software to use a TCP/IP Winsock connection
instead of a modem connection allows you to use an existing Dial-Up
Networking TCP/IP Internet connection to connect to America Online.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
