PRJ: Clearing a Text Field Clears the Notes Field
This article was previously published under Q137542
If both a
Text field and a
Notes field contain information, attempting to use the
Clear All command on the
Text field will remove information from both fields.
This behavior does not occur if the
Notes field is cleared instead. The contents of the
Text field will remain intact.
To work around this problem, use the
Clear Contents command rather than the
Clear All command, as follows:
- Select the field you want to clear.
- On the Edit menu, click Clear, and then click
Contents.
Only the selected field will be cleared.
To Clear Contents button is not added to the Ribbon in Microsoft Project 2010 by default. You can add this button to a customer group on the Customize Ribbon page of the Options menu. An alternative workaround is to select the text field and press
DELETE on the keyboard to clear the contents.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in the versions of Microsoft
Project listed above.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
