Can't open Global.mpt by double-clicking it

SYMPTOMS

When you double-click the Global.mpt file, you receive the following error message:
The global template file Global.mpt cannot be opened. You cannot open the currently active global template file.

CAUSE

When you start Microsoft Project, it automatically loads the Global.mpt file in the background. If you then double-click the Global.mpt file to open it, you receive the error message described in the "Symptoms" section of this article.

STATUS

This behavior is by design. You cannot open the Global.mpt template file by double-clicking it.
