Unable to Change the Destination Folder in Microsoft Backup

SYMPTOMS

When you specify a destination folder under Where To Back Up in Microsoft Backup and then change your backup options by clicking Options under How To Back Up, the destination folder may be changed to the default folder instead of the folder you specified.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if both of the following conditions exist:
  • You click the browse button to locate the destination folder.
  • You change the Microsoft Backup options after you specify the destination folder.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, use the appropriate method:
  • Manually type the path to the destination folder.
  • Change the Microsoft Backup options before you specify the destination folder.
