This article was previously published under Q186831
This article describes how to upgrade an earlier version of FrontPage to
FrontPage 98.
To upgrade an earlier version of FrontPage, use either of the following
methods.
Method 1: If an earlier version of FrontPage is installed
If you have an earlier version of FrontPage installed, follow these steps:
- Insert the FrontPage 98 upgrade compact disc into the CD-ROM drive.
- Click Install FrontPage 98.
NOTE: If AutoRun is disabled, double-click My Computer and then
double-click the CD-ROM drive icon to start the FrontPage
98 Setup program.
- Follow the instructions on your screen.
- In the Upgrade Check dialog box, click Continue.
The Setup program searches your hard disk for a qualifying product.
If Setup does not find a qualifying product, the following message
appears:
Setup has searched you hard disk, and cannot find any of the
qualifying products listed on the Microsoft FrontPage 98 box.
If you receive this message, click Locate. Select the folder that
contains your installation of FrontPage and click OK.
- Continue the installation of FrontPage.
Method 2: If an earlier version of FrontPage is not installed
If you do not currently have a version of FrontPage installed on your computer, but you own a
copy of an earlier version, follow these steps:
- Remove the FrontPage 98 compact disc and insert the compact disc for the
earlier version of FrontPage and click OK. Or, insert the Setup disk
(disk 1) for the earlier version of FrontPage and follow these
additional steps:
- Click Locate.
- Select the drive that contains the Setup disk and click OK.
- After Setup has detected the qualifying product, reinsert the FrontPage
98 compact disc and continue the installation.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
