Clicking View Files in Disk Cleanup Tool Does Not Display Files
This article was previously published under Q188099
When you click Downloaded Program Files in the Disk Cleanup tool and then
click View Files, nothing may happen.
This behavior can occur if you are configuring the Disk Cleanup portion of
the Maintenance Wizard tool.
To view files in the Windows\Downloaded Program Files folder using Disk
Cleanup, use either of the following methods:
Method 1
- Click Start, point to Programs, point to Accessories, point to System
Tools, and then click Disk Cleanup.
- In the Drives box, click the hard disk on which the Downloaded Program
Files folder is located, and then click OK.
- On the Disk Cleanup tab, click Downloaded Program Files, and then click
View Files.
Method 2
- In Windows Explorer or My Computer, right click the hard disk on which
the Downloaded Program Files folder is located, and then click
Properties.
- Click Disk Cleanup.
- On the Disk Cleanup tab, click Downloaded Program Files, and then click
View Files.
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in Microsoft Windows 98.
If you configure Disk Cleanup using Maintenance Wizard and you click
Temporary Internet Files or Recycle Bin and then click View Files, the
files in the folders are displayed properly.
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft Windows 98 Standard Edition
Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
