When you try to install Windows 98 on a computer using DriveSpace
compression, you may receive an error message similar to the following
message:
Not Enough Disk Space
There is not enough space on one or more of your drives to set up
Windows 98. Setup may need to copy some files to your compressed
drive's host drive or to your startup drive.
To set up Windows 98 on drive C:, quit Setup and free some space on the
following drive. For more information, see Setup.txt on Setup Disk 1 or
the Windows 98 compact disk.
Disk H: only has 0.0 MB of free space. You will need 1.5 MB to set up
Windows 98.
This behavior can be caused by insufficient free disk space on the
DriveSpace host drive. Setup may require as much as 7 megabytes (MB) of
free space on the host drive.
To resolve this issue, increase the amount of free disk space on the host
drive, or resize the host drive.
For information about how to delete files and folders in Microsoft Windows
95, click Start, click Help, click the Index tab, type
delete,
and then double-click the "files or folders" topic.
If you are using Windows 98 double-click the "deleting files, folders"
topic.
For information about how to resize the host drive, click Start, click
Help, click the Index tab, type
reallocating,
then double-click the "reallocating free disk space" topic, and then click
"Reallocate free space on a compressed or host drive."
The Setup program needs sufficient free disk space on your host drive for
log files and updated system files.
The default amount of free disk space that DriveSpace allocates on the
host drive is 2 MB.
