SYMPTOMS

In the Gantt Chart or Calendar view, when you drag a task bar to a new date or time, the task ScreenTip may display a Start time that is different than the one you want.

In the Gantt Chart View

The new Start time is only displayed as the default start time.

In the Calendar View

The new Start time is displayed as either the default start time or 12:00 P.M.

NOTE: To change the default start time in Project 2010, click Options on the Tools File menutab, and then click the Calendar Schedule tab. In the Default Start Time box, type the new default start time you want. Click OK. To change the default start time in Project 2007 and earlier versions, click Options on the Tools menu, and then click the Calendar tab. In the Default Start Time box, type the new default start time you want. Click OK.

WORKAROUND

To enter a task start time different than what is displayed in the ScreenTip, change the Start time in the Task Information dialog box. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. Select the task.
  2. On the Project Task menutab, click Task Information , and then click the General tab.

NOTE : In Project 2007 and earlier versions, click Task Information on the Project menu, and then click the General tab.
  3. Under Dates, type the date and time you want the task to start in the Start box. Click OK.
