SYMPTOMS

When you attempt to log on to an Internet Locator server (ILS), you may receive the following error message:
There was a problem connecting to the directory server. You may not be connected to the network or the server may be busy. To change your server, in NetMeeting, click Options in the Tools menu, select the Calling tab, and change the directory server name.
However, when this error message occurs you may be able to log on to other ILS servers without receiving the error message.

CAUSE

This behavior can occur if there is an inappropriate word in any of the boxes on the My Information tab. The ILS server may have an "acceptable use policy" on the server that filters out inappropriate words.

RESOLUTION

Clear any box that contains an inappropriate word, or log on to another ILS server.

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.

No matter when I attempt to use netmeeting 3.01 (embedded with my computer) I get the message that tells me the server could not be found. YOu may not be connected to the internet.... To change your server, in netmeeting, click options in the tools menu and choose the general tab. No matter what I do I can't seem to use the netmeeting. I am trying to get info from anyone who can help.
