Netscape Home-Page Software Multi-Homing Not Supported
This article was previously published under Q197778
When you attempt to install FrontPage 98 for Windows to a Netscape
Software Multi-Homed server, on either an Windows NT or UNIX platform, it
will fail if you are using Software Virtual Servers on a Netscape Web
server.
FrontPage does not support the "home-page" method of software multi-homing
Netscape servers.
Use the "document-root" method of software multi-homing the Netscape
server or use Hardware multi-homing (where each virtual server has its own
IP address).
Microsoft has confirmed this to be a problem in FrontPage 98 for Windows.
In a "home-page" method of software multi-homing there is a line in the
obj.conf for each virtual server as follows:
<Client urlhost="www.website.com">
NameTrans fn="home-page" path="website3/index.html"
</Client>
In a "document-root" method of software multi-homing there is a line in
the obj.conf for each virtual server as follows:
<Client urlhost="www.website.com">
NameTrans fn="document-root" path="http://support.microsoft.com/usr/netscape/suitespot/docs"
</Client>
APPLIES TO
- Microsoft FrontPage 98 Standard Edition

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
