ACC2000: Page Design Changes Made in E-mail Message Not Saved
This article was previously published under Q199224
Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.
When you make a design change to a data access page from within an e-mail message, the change is not saved to the page in the database. You do not get a prompt to save the page or a warning that you will lose the change.
If you want to change the design of a page before sending it to someone and you want to save the change to the page in your database, use one of the following methods:
Method 1
- Select the page. On the File menu, point to Send To, and then click Mail Recipient.
- Make the necessary changes.
- On the File menu, click Save.
- Click Send.
Method 2
- In the Database window, click Pages under Objects. Select the page that you want to change, and then click Design.
- Make the necessary changes.
- On the File menu, click Save.
- On the File menu, click Close.
- Select the page. On the File menu, point to Send To, and then click Mail Recipient.
The e-mail message will contain the change, even if you do not use one of
the methods in the "Resolution" section.
Steps to Reproduce Behavior
- Open the sample database Northwind.mdb.
- In the Database window, click Pages under Objects, and then click New.
- In the New Page dialog box, click Design View. In the Choose the table or query where the object's data comes from box, select Employees, and then click OK.
- In the Field List box, under the Employees table, click to select EmployeeID, and then click Add To Page.
- On the File menu, click Save. Type Page1 in the File name box.
Click Save.
- On the File menu, click Close.
- On the File menu, point to Send To, and then click Mail Recipient.
- In the Toolbox, click Label. Draw a label on the page.
- Type a valid name in the To line, and then click Send.
Note that you do not receive a prompt to save the changes made to the page.
- Open the page that you created.
Note that the label that you created in step 8 is not on the page.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
