SYMPTOMS

Setup has determined you have multiple versions of Internet Explorer 4.0 (5) installed in different operating systems. Setup can not uninstall the current Internet explorer installation. Please restart the machine under the other operating system and then remove Internet Explorer.

After that uninstall is complete start the system again with the original operating system and use IEREMOVE from Start, Run to completely remove Internet Explorer from this installation.
