PUB2000: How to Print a Publication from a Command Line
This article was previously published under Q207641
In Microsoft Windows, you can use a command at the MS-DOS prompt or in the Run dialog box to print a publication without viewing it in Microsoft Publisher.
To print a publication from a command line, follow these steps:
- On the Windows Start button, click Run.
- Type the following command, and then press ENTER, substituting the appropriate values for <path> (the location of Mspub.exe), <path2> (the location of the file you want to print), and <filename> (the name of the file you want to print):
<path>\mspub.exe /p <path2>\<filename>.pub
Be sure to put long filenames in quotation marks. Here are three sample
command lines:
c:\mspub\mspub.exe /p c:\document\report.pub
"c:\program files\microsoft office\mspub.exe" /p c:\test.pub
c:\mspub\mspub.exe /p "c:\my documents\july newsletter.pub"
NOTE: If you type the name of a publication that does not exist, Publisher
displays the Open dialog box. If you click Cancel, Publisher prints a blank
page to your printer.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
