ACC2000: Options Dialog Box Items Are Not Visible
This article was previously published under Q209185
Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.
This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).
When you click
Options on the
Tools menu, some of the option items are not visible.
In Control Panel, in the
Display Properties dialog box under the
Appearance tab, in Windows 95 or later, the Window Text color has been set to the same color as the 3D Objects in the Message Box, which is the color Microsoft Access uses for the background color in the
Options dialog box.
To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
- On the taskbar, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Display icon.
- Click the Appearance tab.
- Select 3D Objects in the Item box.
- Select a different color for the Item Color setting.
- Click OK.
Steps to Reproduce Behavior
- On the taskbar, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click the Display icon.
- Click the Appearance tab.
- Select Window in the Item box.
- Choose a color (for example, the light gray color) for the Item and Font color.
- Select 3D Objects in the Item box.
- Choose the same color that you chose in step 5 for the Item and Font color.
- Click OK. Close Control Panel.
- Start Microsoft Access and open any database. Click Options on the Tools menu.
Notice that some of the items are not visible.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
