Error message when you try to update a record on a form in an Access database: "This Recordset is not."

Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user
computers.
This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) file or to a Microsoft Access database (.accdb) file.
When you try to update a record on a form in an Access database, you may receive the
following error message:
This Recordset is not
updateable.
This issue occurs when the form is based on a query that is not updateable.
Steps to reproduce behavior
- Create the following new query based on the Order Details
table in the sample database Northwind.
Query: qryOrders
-------------------
Type: Select Query
Join: None
Field: Quantity
Total: Group By
Field: UnitPrice
Total: Group By
- Save the new query as the qryOrders query, and then close the query.
- When you have the qryOrders query selected, click AutoForm on the Insertmenu.
Note In Access 2007, when you have the qryOrders query selected, click Forms in the Forms group on the Create tab. - Try to change the unit price in any record.
Notice
that you receive the error message that is mentioned in the "Symptoms" section.
