PUB2000: Incorrect Envelope Orientation or Feed with HP DeskJet
This article was previously published under Q212546
When you print an envelope to an Hewlett-Packard (HP) DeskJet printer, you
may experience one of the following symptoms:
- Nothing is printed on the envelope.
- The orientation is incorrect.
- The feed method is incorrect.
This behavior occurs if either of the following are true:
- The HP DeskJet driver you selected is using its default settings for printing envelopes.
- You are printing to an HP DeskJet 870 printer and the envelope is fed from the wrong side of the printer.
NOTE: This behavior has also been reported on the 690c and 890c printer models.
If you are having problems with the orientation or feed of an envelope when
you print from Publisher, follow these steps:
- On the Tools menu, click Options, and then click the Printing tab.
- Click to select the Print Envelopes using these settings check box.
- Click the Orientation and Feed options you want to use, and then click OK.
- Feed the envelope into your printer using the settings you made in steps 1 through 3.
- Print your envelope.
NOTE: If you are printing to an HP DeskJet 870, the envelope feed settings will be reversed. If you select the left option, the printer will try to feed and print the envelope on the right. To work around this problem, feed the envelope from the opposite side of the printer, based on the settings you made on the
Printing tab in the
Options dialog box. Similar results have been reported on the HP DeskJet 722c.
