Custom tab stops are lost when saving in Compatibility Mode (*.ppt) in PowerPoint 2007 or 2010
The custom tab stops are lost when saving a presentation as PowerPoint 97-2003 Presentation (*.ppt) file format.
This issue may occur when saving the presentation in an earlier file format such as PowerPoint 97-2003 presentation (*.ppt).
Convert the presentation to the new Open XML PowerPoint Presentation format (*.pptx). If you don't wish to convert to the new file format you can use tables instead of text boxes with tab stops. To convert the presntation to PowerPoint Presentation (*.pptx) click on the Office button in PowerPoint 2007 (File tab in PowerPoint 2010) and click Convert.
You may see this issue happen when you export a presentation to PDF using the Create PDF command provided in Acrobat 9 Professional add-in. In this scenario the presentation's tab stops may get reverted back to original placements.
This issue doesn't occur with PowerPoint Presentation (*.pptx), the new Office Open XML Format (OOXML).

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
