Your Windows-based computer may contain customized original equipment manufacturer (OEM) or corporate logo information visible on the General tab of the System tool in Control Panel. This article describes how to alter this logo information.
To alter logo information visible on the General tab of the System tool in Control Panel, use the appropriate method:
Remove Logo from OEM Version of Windows 98 or Windows 95
To remove the logo information from your computer, find and rename the Oemlogo.bmp and Oeminfo.ini files in the Windows\System folder to an .old extension:
- Click Start, point to Find, and then click Files Or Folders.
- In the Named box, type oemlogo.bmp.
- In the Look In box, click Local Hard Drives, and then click Find Now.
- Right-click the Oemlogo.bmp file, click Rename, type oemlogo.old1, and then press ENTER.
- Repeat steps 1-4, but substitute the Oeminfo.ini file for the Oemlogo.bmp file, and rename it to Oeminfo.old1 in step 4.
Add Logo Information to Non-OEM Windows 98/95-Based Computer
To add logo information:
- Use a text editor (such as Notepad) to create a file with the following text
[General]
Manufacturer=manufacturer name
Model=model name
where manufacturer name is the appropriate manufacturer name, and model name is the appropriate model name.
- Name this file "oeminfo.ini", and then save it to the Windows\System folder.
- Create a bitmap (.bmp) file that conforms to the following requirments, name it "oemlogo.bmp", and then save it to the Windows\System folder:
- 96 x 96 (small fonts), or 120 x 120 (large fonts)
- 256 colors

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
