Article ID: 2276469 - Last Review: September 8, 2010 - Revision: 2.0 Description of the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 hotfix package (Sts-x-none.msp): August 31, 2010This article describes the Microsoft Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 issues that are fixed in the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 hotfix package that is dated August 31, 2010. This article describes the following items about the hotfix package: - The issues that the hotfix package fixes.
- The prerequisites for installing the hotfix
package.
- Whether you must restart the computer after you install
the hotfix package.
- Whether the hotfix package is replaced by any other
hotfix packages.
- Whether you must make any registry changes.
- The files that the hotfix package contains.
Issues that this hotfix package fixes- This hotfix adds the Dari support into the XML settings file. Additionally, the updates to the XML settings file fixes the following issues:
- The Dari version of Windows SharePoint Services cannot display the format of the calendar correctly.
- Certain areas of the User Interface (UI) are displayed from left-to-right.
- The Dari currency symbol cannot be displayed.
- Consider the following scenario. You export a document library that has versioning enabled. During the exporting phase, an import is initiated. For instance, another user updates the file and creates a new version of the file. In this scenario, the import fails. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
FatalError: Member 'Versions' was not found.
- Consider the following scenario. You have a list view which contains a Date and Time type column. You configure the view to Group By and Sort by the Date and Time column. In this scenario, you cannot open the view. Additionally, you receive the following error message in the webpage:
Server Error in '/' Application.

- The workflow cannot process the OnTaskChanged event when another OnTaskChanged event is in the execution phase.
- A file contains multiple versions in a document library. One of the versions of the file has a size of 0 bytes. When you export the document library or run content deployment during the import phase, you receive the following error message:
FatalError: Member 'FileValue' was not found.
- When an alert has a view filter that tests field values that have a null value, the alert is also triggered for the new items whose field value is not null.
- You try to create a web application by using an account that contains database owner (DBO) rights in a Microsoft SQL server. However, the DBO rights are obtained through a domain group and the rights are not directly assigned to the SQL server role. Therefore, you cannot create the web application.
- Consider the following scenario. You have a Windows SharePoint Services website that has a customized master page and a custom site theme. You try to add a new list item or edit an existing list item. Before you save the changes, another user deletes a list item that contains an attachment in the same list item as yours. In this scenario, you cannot save the changes. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
This Page has been modified since you opened it. You must open the page again. - Consider the following scenario. You perform an incremental export or run an incremental content deployment. At the same time, other users attempt to edit published pages. In this scenario, a deadlock occurs during the "Calculating Objects to Export" phase on the EventCache table. Additionally, the incremental export or the incremental content deployment fails and you receive the following error message:
System.Data.SqlClient.SqlException: Transaction (Process ID XX) was deadlocked on lock resources with another process and has been chosen as the deadlock victim. Rerun the transaction.

- After you upgrade the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 1 to the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Service Pack 1 version, the command stsadm -o updatefarmcredential -identitytype NetworkService fails. Additionally, you receive the following message:
"The string instance is not set. Parameter Name: s"
- When you delete a list item through the Recycle Bin and there are no corresponding delete records in the RecycleBin table, the versions of the item are orphaned in the AllDocVersions table.
- When you query a property that requires alternative access mapping like 'path', the search takes a long time to return results.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
