OFF2000: Exit Setup Dialog Box Appears Unexpectedly When You Press the ENTER Key
This article was previously published under Q228616
During installation of Microsoft Office 2000, when you press the ENTER key and the
Installing Microsoft Office 2000 dialog box is visible, the
Exit Microsoft Office 2000 Setup confirmation box may appear.
The
Exit Microsoft Office 2000 Setup confirmation box may appear even though the
Cancel button is no longer present in the
Installing Microsoft Office 2000 dialog box.
If you click
Yes on the
Exit Microsoft Office 2000 Setup confirmation box, Microsoft Internet Explorer may not work as expected until you restart the computer.
This behavior can occur because the default command for the
Installing Microsoft Office 2000 dialog box is
Cancel. Anytime the
Installing Microsoft Office 2000 dialog box is on the screen, and you press ENTER, it is the equivalent of clicking the
Cancel button. This is true even if the
Cancel button has disappeared from the
Installing Microsoft Office 2000 dialog box.
To resolve this problem, do not press the ENTER key when the
Installing Microsoft Office 2000 dialog box is visible.
To work around this problem, click the
No button when the
Exit Microsoft Office 2000 Setup confirmation box appears. Setup will then continue as expected.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
