OFF2000: Cannot Open Binder Documents After Installing Office 2000
This article was previously published under Q229410
Nothing happens when you double-click your Microsoft Binder documents after you install Office. The Binder files display the generic Microsoft Window icon.
Binder is not installed with the default installation of Office.
To install Binder, follow these steps:
- Click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel.
- Double-click Add/Remove Programs.
- Click Microsoft Office 2000 in the list of available programs, and then click Add/Remove.
- Click Add or Remove Features in the Microsoft Office 2000 Maintenance Mode dialog box.
- Click the plus next to Office Tools.
- Click the Microsoft Binder list, and then click Run from My Computer.
- Click Update Now.
- Click OK to the message that setup was completed successfully.
At this point you can open your existing Binder documents, as well as create new Binder documents.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
