Fix: Replication error message when you register a custom resolver to a merge replication in SQL Server 2005, in SQL Server 2008 or in SQL Server 2008 R2 if a BIGINT column contains a NULL value

Microsoft distributes Microsoft SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 R2 and SQL Server 2005 fixes as one downloadable file. Because the fixes are cumulative, each new release contains all the hotfixes and all the security fixes that were included with the previous SQL Server 2008, SQL Server 2008 R2 or SQL Server 2005 fix release.

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You create a merge replication in Microsoft SQL Server 2005, in Microsoft SQL Server 2008 or in SQL Server 2008 R2.
  • The merge replication includes a BIGINT column that contains a NULL value.
  • You create a custom business logic handler by using managed code.
  • You register the handler as a custom resolver to the merge replication.

In this scenario, you receive the following replication error message:
The schema of the custom DataSet object implemented in the business logic handler does not match the schema of the source DataSet object. Verify that the custom DataSet object has been correctly defined. (Source: MSSQL_REPL, Error number: MSSQL_REPL-2147199411)
