OFF2000: How to Automatically Reboot After the First Portion of Setup
This article was previously published under Q233119
When you run Office Setup, you receive the following alert after the initial portion of setup has finished:
The installer must restart your system before configuration of <Office 2000 Product> can continue. Click Yes to restart now or No if you plan to manually restart later.
where <Office 2000 product> is the name of the specific Office product being used.
You will receive the above alert even if you set the
REBOOT property to
Force in the command-line, the Setup.ini, or the Custom Installation Wizard.
To automatically reboot after the first portion of Office setup, follow these steps:
- Click Start, and click Run.
- Type the following command-line in the Open box:
- Click OK.
Setup will run with the user interface in Basic mode. This means you will not be able to make any choices and Office will be installed with default settings.
If you want to create a customized Office setup, include a transform with the above command-line. For more information about transforms, see the
Microsoft Office 2000 Resource Kit at

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
