INFO: Windows CE ToolKit and Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 3

This article was previously published under Q233424

SUMMARY

Visual Studio Service Pack 3 overwrites certain Visual C++ 6.0 components that are modified when you install the Microsoft Windows CE Toolkit for Visual C++ 6.0. This means you cannot run the Windows CE Toolkit for Visual C++ 6.0 with Service Pack 3 installed on your machine. Note also that Service Pack 3 does not include an uninstaller.

If you install Service Pack 3 and then want to run the Windows CE Toolkit for Visual C++, you must remove Visual C++ 6.0 using the Visual C++ 6.0 uninstaller and then reinstall Visual C++ 6.0 and the Windows CE Toolkit for Visual C++. Future versions of the Windows CE Toolkit for Visual C++ will address this incompatibility with Visual Studio 6.0 Service Pack 3.

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.

Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
