The following error occurred while trying to connect
<drive> to \\<computername>\<sharename>

The computer or sharename could not be found. Make sure you typed it correctly, and try again.
where <drive> is the selected drive letter, <computername> is the name of the computer you are connecting to, and <sharename> is the name of the shared resource.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if you attempt to map a network connection to a shared network resource on your local computer.

WORKAROUND

To work around this issue, use the local drive on your computer to gain access to the shared resource.

If you have TCP/IP installed, you can map the drive by using the IP address of the local computer in the path. Connect to your local computer by using the IP address:
\\ipaddress
After the local computer is displayed and the shared resource you want to map is displayed, right-click the share, and then click Map Network Drive. Then, select a drive letter and accept the configuration.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
