SYMPTOMS

When you open Microsoft Sound Recorder, you may receive one of the following error messages:

In English

Sound Recorder settings have been changed by another program. As a result, Sound Recorder may not work correctly. Click Yes if you would like to fix this problem now, otherwise click No.

In German

Die Einstellungen fr den Audiorecorder wurden von einem anderen Programm gendert. Mglicherweise funktioniert der Audiorecorder nicht mehr einwandfrei. Klicken Sie auf Ja, um den Fehler zu beheben, andernfalls auf Nein.

CAUSE

This issue can occur if there is an incorrect value data entry in the registry.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this error message, click Yes in English or Ja in German.

When you start Sound Recorder for the first time, the registry contains the &Wiedergabe value data in the following registry key:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\CLASSES\SoundRec\protocol\StdFileEditing\verb\0
When you click Ja, this registry value data is changed to &Wiedergeben.
