Article ID: 2412259 - Last Review: December 23, 2010 - Revision: 3.0 Description of the Office SharePoint Server 2007 hotfix package (coreserver-x-none.msp): October 26, 2010This article describes the Microsoft Office SharePoint server 2007 issues that are fixed in the hotfix package that is dated October 26, 2010. This article describes the following items about the hotfix package: - The issues that the hotfix package fixes.
- The prerequisites for installing the hotfix package.
- Whether you must restart the computer after you install the hotfix package.
- Whether the hotfix package is replaced by any other hotfix package.
- Whether you must make any registry changes.
- The files that the hotfix package contains.
Issues that this hotfix package fixesYou import users from Lightweight Directory Access Protocol (LDAP) in Office SharePoint Server 2007. Specifically, you import the users by selecting Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) through the User profile and the Properties service in the Shared Services Provider (SSP). In this scenario, some fields under the Property Import Mapping section are missing when you load the EditProperty.aspx page.
- You try to use the User Profile Replication Engine to replicate user profiles from one SharePoint SSP to another in Office SharePoint Server 2007. In this scenario, the data in the properties data is corrupted.
- You implement Forms Based Authentication (FBA) for Office SharePoint Server 2007. When you try to visit a user’s profile on the FBA My Site page, you cannot see the membership information about the user even though you have access to the site.
- In Office SharePoint Server 2007 site, when you configure a web part to target an audience that contains the users who belong to several audiences, the output caching does not work correctly.
- This hotfix improves the performance of certain web content management operations when a page library contains many columns in a site.
Specifically, this hotfix improves performance in the following situations:- When you create a new webpage
- When you view the webpage settings
- When you use the Manage Content and Structure tool to manage the sites
- Assume that you only have the access to a library or a list in an Office SharePoint Server 2007 site. When you perform a search in a search box in the library or in the list, the search results are not displayed. Additionally, you receive the following error message:
- You set a time zone in an Office SharePoint Server 2007 site that is not in Universal Time Coordinated (UTC). Then, you set the schedule for a publishing page by using the page setting. In this situation, when you open the page setting again, the scheduled publishing time for the page is not displayed correctly.
Note This issue occurs after you apply the hotfix package that is described in Microsoft Knowledge Base (KB) article 2290262.
- You cannot create a new sub site under the site which you have changed the navigation in an Office SharePoint 2007 site. Additionally, receive the following exception:
Object reference not set to an instance of an object.
- Consider the following scenario. You set the Extend Web Applications feature in Office SharePoint 2007. Specifically, you set the Extend Web Applications by using the application pool account that is not in the local administrator group. Then, you publish the SharePoint sites to an extranet SharePoint site by setting the Alternate Access Mappings (AAM). In this scenario, you cannot create the My Site page when you click the My Site link on the published extranet SharePoint site.
- When you implement a nondefault word breaker for search in an Office SharePoint Server 2007 site, the search may not return results because of the random Access Violation (AV) that occurs.
Note This issue occurs after you apply the hotfix package that is described in KB article 958714.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
