EMF files and WMF files are displayed as cropped when you paste the files by using the Paste as Picture feature in Office Excel 2007

SYMPTOMS

Consider the following scenario:
  • You copy a range of cells that contain Enhanced Metafile (EMF) files and Windows Metafile (WMF) files in Microsoft Office Excel 2007.
  • You paste the cells by using the Paste as Picture feature.
In this scenario, the EMF files and the WMF files are displayed as cropped in the pasted picture.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this issue, apply the following hotfix:

After you install the hotfix package, follow these steps to enable the hotfix:
  1. Click Start, click Run, type regedit in the Open box, and then click OK.
  2. Locate and then select the following registry subkey:

    HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Office\12.0\Excel\Options
  3. On the Edit menu, point to New, and then click DWORD Value.
  4. Type RecordPicturesToMetafilePlus, and then press ENTER.
  5. In the Details pane, right-click RecordPicturesToMetafilePlus, and then click Modify.
  6. In the Value data box, type 1, and then click OK.
  7. Exit Registry Editor.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed in the "Applies to" section.
