You receive an error message in a program that interacts with Word 2000 when Norton AntiVirus or SystemWorks is installed on your computer

When you use one of the Microsoft Office programs listed at the beginning of this article, and you use a feature that requires the functions of Microsoft Word, you may experience one of the following symptoms:
- When you try to insert a Microsoft Word Document object into a program, you receive one of the following error messages:
Microsoft application can't start the application required to open this object. An error occurred and this feature is no longer functioning properly. Would you like to repair this feature now?
If you click No to the error message, you receive the following error message:
Cannot start the source application for this object.
-or-
Failed to create object. Make sure the application is entered in the system registry.
- When you try to edit text in Microsoft Publisher by using the
Edit Story in Microsoft Word command, you receive the following error message:
A Word Story Editing error occurred. Microsoft Word may be busy, or there may not be enough memory. Wait a moment for Microsoft Word to finish. If this doesn't correct the problem, try making more memory available by saving your work and closing other programs; then try again.
- When you try to use Automation to control Word with the CreateObject function, you receive the following error message when you try to run the code:
Run-time error '2147417846 (8001010a) Automation error.
Note When you try to perform a mail merge from Microsoft Access, you may receive this error message.

The automation error 8001010A occurs when you automate Word 2000
- When you try to perform a mail merge from Microsoft Outlook, you receive the following error message:
The program for the attachment may not have been installed properly or may have been moved or deleted. Reinstall the program in which the attachment was created.
- When you try to save or print a file, the Save, Save As, or Print dialog box may appear behind your Office program.
- When you start Microsoft Word, you receive the following error message:
visual c++ run time library.
Run time error:
winword.exe r6025 pure virtual function call
- When you try to open a presentation in Microsoft PowerPoint, you receive the following error message:
PowerPoint found an error that it can't correct. You should save presentations, quit, and then restart PowerPoint.
- In Microsoft Word, when you click the Page Up button or Page Down button on the vertical scroll bar, Word does not continue to the previous page or next page.
- When you click New Letter to Contact in Outlook, you receive the following error message:
Unable to start the Word letter wizard
This behavior may occur if you have any of the following products installed on your computer.
- Norton AntiVirus 2000
