XL2000: Some Financial Functions May Return Incorrect Results with February 29, 2000

SYMPTOMS

In Microsoft Excel, certain financial functions may return an incorrect value.

CAUSE

Excel may calculate an incorrect value when the following conditions are true:
  • You are using one of the following worksheet functions provided by the Analysis ToolPak add-in:

    • ACCRINT
    • COUPDAYBS
    • COUPDAYS
    • COUPDAYSNC
    • COUPPCD
    • COUPNCD
    • DURATION
    • MDURATION
    • ODDFPRICE
    • ODDFYIELD
    • PRICE
    • YIELD


    -and-

  • The bond's maturity, settlement, or first interest payment takes place on February 29, 2000.

RESOLUTION

A Microsoft Excel 2000 Analysis ToolPak Update (http://office.microsoft.com/downloads/2000/Atpy2k.aspx) that resolves this issue is available for download from the following Microsoft Web site:

STATUS
