Searching instructions
Note The portals below may be updated at a future date; therefore, the
steps may be slightly different from what is indicated here.
The following steps detail search procedures for these two Microsoft search portals:- Click Advanced Search to open the Advanced
Search page.
- In the Search Product list, you can either choose a broad scope by selecting All Products or you can refine your search to particular technology or
product.
- Select All of the words entered in the Search Type list.
- In the For box, use a combination of Knowledge Base keywords and search
criteria.
Examples:
kbCOM - will return all COM articles
kbDCOM - will return all DCOM articles
kbDCOM kbSecurity - will return all DCOM articles discussing security issues.
kbDCOM kbSecurity Access Permission - will return all DCOM articles discussing security issues that
mention access permissions. Note that "Access Permission" is not a keyword, it
is simply additional criteria. - Click the Run the Search button to run your search.
The following steps detail search procedures for:- Type one or more Knowledge Base keywords in the
Search Microsoft.com for box.
Examples:
kbCOM - will return all COM articles.
kbDCOM - will return all DCOM articles.
kbDCOM kbSecurity - will return all DCOM articles that discuss security
issues.
kbDCOM kbSecurity Access Permission - will return all DCOM articles that discuss security issues and
mention access permissions. Note that "Access Permission" is not a keyword. It
is simply additional criteria. - Select English in the Search pages
in droplist.
- Select Knowledge Base (for support) in the
Search Only These Sites list.
- Click the Search button to run the
search.
