Windows Does Not Restart If Device Properties in Device Manager Are Open

SYMPTOMS

If you attempt to shut down or restart Windows Millennium Edition (Me) while the properties for a device are open in Device Manager, Windows Me does not shut down or restart.

WORKAROUND

Close the properties for any devices in Device Manager before you attempt to shut down or restart Windows Me. If you have already attempted to shut down or restart Windows Me, press the ESC key and then close the open properties so that Windows Me can continue.
