Setver.exe Is Not Loadable in Windows Millennium Edition

SYMPTOMS

If you run Setver.exe at a command prompt in Windows Millennium Edition (Me), you receive the following error message:
NOTE: Setver device not loaded. To activate Setver version reporting you must load the Setver.exe device in your Config.sys.

CAUSE

"Device=" entries in the Config.sys file are not processed by Windows Me. Previously installed real-mode programs are not loaded at startup with Windows Me.

STATUS

This behavior is by design.
