This article describes the HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG registry key in Windows 95, Windows 98, Windows 98 Second Edition, and Windows Millennium Edition (Me).
The HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG registry key is stored in the System.dat file. This key points to the current computer configuration in the collection of configurations stored in the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Config\000
x key, which contains the current hardware configuration (where
x refers to the configuration number). For example, if you have a docked and an undocked mode for your portable computer, you have the following subkeys for each configuration:
0001
0002
The Display subkey specifies screen fonts and screen settings, such as resolution. The Enum subkey contains subkeys that specify Plug and Play BIOS and the System subkey contains subkeys that list available printers.
