SUMMARY

This article describe what the Microsoft Word Web Archive Converter is and how to use it.

MORE INFORMATION

The Microsoft Word Web Archive Converter lets you open documents that have been packaged as Web archives in Microsoft Word 2000. You can then work with the document in Word as you do with any other document and save it again as a Web page.

For more information about saving your Word document as a Web page, click Microsoft Word Help on the Help menu, type save as Web page in the Office Assistant or the Answer Wizard, and then click Search to view the topics returned.

A Web archive file allows you to package a Web page and its supporting files into a single file. A Web archive file has the .mht extension and does not make changes to the original Web page. You can use Web archive files to keep track of supporting files. Or you can send an entire Web page with all its supporting files packaged as a Web archive file in an e-mail message.

To obtain the Microsoft Word Web Archive Converter, please visit the following Microsoft Web site:

How to Use the Microsoft Word Web Archive Converter

  1. After you have downloaded the file and installed the Microsoft Word Web Archive Converter, quit Word and then restart it.
  2. On the File menu, click Open.
  3. In the Files of type box, scroll down to select Web Archive (*.mht;*.mhtml;*.eml).
  4. Click your Web archive document, and then click Open.
NOTE: To package a document and its supporting files as a Web archive again, you need the Microsoft Office 2000 Web Archive Add-on, available from the Office Update Download Catalog.

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.
