Description of the Microsoft Windows Registry
When you install BackOffice Server 4.5 on a Windows 2000 Server-based computer, Site Server version 3.0 is blocked and is not available as an optional component through any installation method. Since the Intranet Collaboration Kit and Intranet Publishing Kit depend on Site Server 3.0, they are not installed either.
If Site Server version 3.0 and Site Server version 3.0 Service Pack (SP) 3 are installed manually after BackOffice Server 4.5 has been installed, attempting to install the Intranet Collaboration Kit or the Intranet Publishing Kit does not work. When you try to choose either component during BackOffice 4.5 Setup, both are unavailable, and the following error messages are generated if an attempt is made to select either one:
BackOffice Server 4.5 Setup
Intranet Collaboration Kit depends on Site Server, which has 1 or more install problem(s).
BackOffice Server 4.5 Setup
Intranet Publishing Kit depends on Site Server, which has 1 or more install problem(s).
WARNING: If you use Registry Editor incorrectly, you may cause serious problems that may
require you to reinstall your operating system. Microsoft cannot guarantee that you can solve
problems that result from using Registry Editor incorrectly. Use Registry Editor at your own
risk.
To resolve this problem, remove and reinstall BackOffice 4.5 following the instructions included in the "Installing Microsoft BackOffice Server 4.5 on Windows 2000 Server" white paper. To do so, perform the following steps to remove the program, and then follow the instructions in the white paper to reinstall it:
NOTE: The "Installing Microsoft BackOffice Server 4.5 on Windows 2000 Server" white paper states that Site Server 3.0 and Site Server 3.0 SP2 must be installed before you can install BackOffice Server components.
- Uninstall Site Server 3.0 SP3 by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel.
NOTE: This may not be possible if an uninstallation folder was not created. However, because this program will be reinstalled, it is not an issue if this program cannot be uninstalled. - Uninstall Site Server 3.0 by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel.
- Uninstall SQL 7.0 by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel.
- Uninstall Exchange Server 5.5 by running the Exchsvr\server\setup\i386\setup.exe program from CD-ROM number 4.
- Uninstall Proxy Server by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel.
- Uninstall SNA Server by running the SNA40\i386\setup.exe program in CD-ROM number 7.
- Uninstall the BackOffice Server 4.5 Setup files by using the Add/Remove Programs tool in Control Panel.

- exchsrvr
- Microsoft Site Server
- MSP
- MSSQL7
- Site Server 3.0 SP2
- Program Files\Microsoft BackOffice
- SNA
- urlcache
- Use Regedt32.exe to delete the following keys from the

- Inetkit1
- Inetkit2
- BackOffice Web Administrator
- BackOffice Administrator
- BackOffice\Help
