You receive an "Error 1308. Source file not found <path>\IE5\EN\ICWCON.CAB" error message when you install the Office 2000 SR-1 Update

SYMPTOMS

When you install the Microsoft Office 2000 Service Release 1 (SR-1) Update, you receive the following error message:
Error 1308. Source file not found: <path>\IE5\EN\ICWCON.CAB.
Verify that the file exists and that you can access it.
where <path> is the path to the SR-1 Update. When you click Ignore, you receive another similar error message. If you continue to click Ignore when each error message appears, eventually an error message appears that lists each of the following files:
<path>\IE5\EN\IENT_S5.CAB
<path>\IE5\EN\IE50EM.EXE
<path>\IE5\EN\OAINST.EXE
<path>\IE5\EN\NM30.CAB
<path>\Support\READMORE.TXT
<path>\Support\OA4514.EXE
<path>\Support\Win2000\1\W2K_ARA.EXE
<path>\Support\Win2000\13\W2K_HBR.EXE
<path>\Support\Win2000\17\W2K_JPN.EXE
<path>\Support\Win2000\17\nec98\W2KNEC98.EXE
<path>\Support\Win2000\18\W2K_KOR.EXE
<path>\Support\Win2000\9\W2K_ENG.EXE

If you ignore all of these error messages, the following error message appears:
Internal error 2371: Please contact product support for assistance.

CAUSE

This problem occurs if you try to apply the Office 2000 SR-1 Update to your administrative installation point.
