SUMMARY

Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) supports the most common Internet programs and protocols to provide basic Internet access. This includes HTTP, Post Office Protocol 3 (POP3), and Simple Mail Transport Protocol (SMTP). In addition, ICS supports the DirectPlay and BattleNet Internet gaming standards.

MORE INFORMATION

If a program does not work with ICS, the program may be placing address information in the data portion of the TCP/IP packet. If this is the case, it may be impossible for the program to work with ICS unless the software publisher provides a program-level translator, or a Network Address Translation (NAT) editor, that enables ICS to find the address information. ICS provides the following editors:
  • Microsoft Windows CE Services - TCP ports 5678- 5679
  • CuSeeMe - UDP ports 7648 and 7649, TCP ports 7649 and 24032
  • DirectPlay - UDP port 47624, TCP port 47624
  • FTP Server - TCP port 21
  • IRC Server - TCP ports 6667 and 7000
  • Microsoft NetMeeting (h.323) - TCP ports 1720, 1503
  • Web Server - TCP port 80
  • Microsoft Terminal Server - TCP port 3389
  • Oracle - UDP ports 1524-1527, TCP ports 1524-1527
  • Microsoft Virtual Private Networking - TCP port 1723
  • Quake - UDP 26000,27500,27910
  • Microsoft File Sharing Server Message Block (SMB) - UDP ports 135-139, TCP ports 135-139
  • SIP Music - UDP port 3264, TCP port 3264
  • pcAnywhere - UDP ports 561,5632,, TCP ports 5631, 5632,65301
  • LapLink - UDP port 1547 and TCP port 1547
  • VDOPhone - UDP port 32649 and TCP ports 7000, 7010
  • ProComm Plus 4.7 - TCP port 5414
  • X-Windows Server - TCP port 6000
This list does not guarantee that all programs using these protocols will function through an ICS host. If a program uses one of these protocols in a non-standard way, such as assigning ports other than the default, the program may not function through the ICS host.

Community Feedback System

Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back. Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what didn't.

Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry edits), please consult a professional.

Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
