SUMMARY

When you upgrade a version of Windows to Windows Millennium Edition (Me), your sound card drivers may be updated to Windows Driver Model (WDM) drivers. This article provides information about the WDM driver upgrade process.

MORE INFORMATION

Your Computer Already Uses WDM Drivers

If your Windows 98-based computer is using WDM drivers before you upgrade to Windows Me, the WDM driver is updated to the latest version that is available in Windows Me. Note that Windows Me may not contain an updated WDM driver for your sound card.

Your Computer Does Not Already Use WDM Drivers

If your Windows 98-based computer is not using WDM drivers before you upgrade to Windows Me, WDM drivers are installed during the upgrade process.
