SYMPTOMS

When you upgrade to Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me) on an IBM ThinkPad with ThinkPad Access Active Desktop installed, you may receive the following error message:
Line: 218
Char: 2
Error: 'S S Div'
Code: 0
URL file: //c:\windows\application data\microsoft\internet explorer\desktop.htt
This behavior can also occur when you start ThinkPad Access Active Desktop from the Start menu.

CAUSE

This behavior occurs because of a timing issue between IBM Active Access Desktop and the version of Internet Explorer that is shipped with Windows Millennium Edition. The Active Desktop content times out before all Internet Explorer files are loaded.

RESOLUTION

To work around this issue, remove the Access ThinkPad program before installing Windows Me. To do this, click Start, point to Settings, and then click Control Panel. Double-click Add/Remove Programs, click Access ThinkPad, and click Add/Remove.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in ThinkPad 570x, 240, I 1452, I 1472, 600E, Nagano.
