Cannot Use Chat, Whiteboard, and File Transfers When Sending Video in NetMeeting 3.01

This article was previously published under Q267724

SYMPTOMS

When you set NetMeeting 3.01 to send video upon connection with another computer, you cannot use the chat, whiteboard, and file transfer windows, which display the message "Not in a call" in their title bars.

WORKAROUND

To work around this behavior, click to clear the Automatically send video at the start of each call check box on the Video tab of the Options dialog box.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

If the computers are set not to send video upon connection, the chat, whiteboard, and file transfer features work until the video is started on computers at both ends of the meeting. After that, the chat title bar continues to say "Connected," but the chat feature does not work. If you close and then reopen the chat window, the title bar says "Not in a call."
