When you unplug and then plug the Iomega Universal Serial Bus (USB) Zip 100 Drive back into your computer after you upgrade to Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition (Me), you may receive the following error message:
An error has occurred. To continue:
Press ENTER to return to Windows, or
Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart your computer. IF you do this you will lose any unsaved information in all open applications.
Error: 0028 : 00000003
This behavior occurs if you have GoBack v2.1c or 2.1e installed and disabled on your computer.
Upgrading to version 2.2 or uninstalling GoBack resolves this issue.
To work around this behavior, follow these steps:
- Insert the Windows Me startup disk into your CR-ROM, and then select Minimal Boot.
- Type cd Windows\System\Iosubsys, and then press ENTER.
- Type ren VGoBackD.vxd VGoBackD.xxx, and then press ENTER.
- Press CTRL+ALT+DEL to restart you computer.
- Plug the Iomega USB Zip 100 back into the computer.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in Microsoft Windows Millennium Edition.
This also occurs with any Universal Serial Bus or 1394 storage device.
