PPT2001: MP3 Files May Not Insert or Play on Mac OS 8.1
This article was previously published under Q273699
When you attempt to insert an MP3 file into a presentation, the file may not be inserted, or may not play after being inserted.
This problem occurs when you do not have QuickTime 3.0 or later, or Mac OS 8.5 or later installed. QuickTime 3.0 or later is required to play MP3 files from within PowerPoint.
To resolve this issue, use any of the following methods:
- Upgrade your version of QuickTime to version 3.0 or later.
- Upgrade your version of Mac OS to Mac OS 8.5 or later.
- Convert the MP3 files into .wav or .avi files before you insert them into PowerPoint.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
The third-party products that are discussed in this article are manufactured by companies that are independent of Microsoft. Microsoft makes no warranty, implied or otherwise, regarding the performance or reliability of these products.
