ACC2002: Cannot Create Group Above a Section on a Data Access Page
This article was previously published under Q285330
Novice: Requires knowledge of the user interface on single-user computers.
This article applies to a Microsoft Access database (.mdb) and to a Microsoft Access project (.adp).
If you use the right mouse button to drag a table from the field list to the data access page, and you try to add the table above another section that has a caption, all of the choices on the shortcut menu are unavailable, and you cannot add the table.
To work around this problem, use either of the following methods:
- Although you cannot right-click and drag a table into a section above a captioned section, you can right-click and drag a field. After the new section is created, you can add the remaining fields from the table.
-or-
- Click the left mouse button, and then drag the table into the section above the captioned section.
Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.
Steps to Reproduce the Behavior
- Create a new data access page in Design View.
- Right-click and drag the Orders table from the field list to the page, and add it in Tabular format.
- Right-click and drag the Customers table from the field list into the section above the Orders caption section.
Note that all items on the shortcut menu are unavailable.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
