Workspace Is Unusable When the Restore Operation That Uses the IKnowledgeServer Programming Interface Quits Unexpectedly
This article was previously published under Q287350
If a restore operation that uses the IKnowledgeServer programming interface quits unexpectedly, the workspace may become unusable. If you attempt another restore operation using the same interface, the "IDataSource -> Open" call fails, and the restore operation also fails.
To work around this issue, repair the SharePoint Portal Server installation, and then proceed with the restore operation.
This issue does not affect restore operations that are using the Msdmback.vbs script that is shipped with the product; this issue occurs only for scripted restore operations that use the IKnowledgeServer programming interface and the restore method that is described in the SharePoint Portal Server software development kit (SDK). For more information about the IKnowledgeServer interface and the restore method, refer to the Reference section of the Help file that is included in the SharePoint Portal Server SDK.

Community Feedback System
Very often, it takes hours to solve a problem. Very often, you've looked high
and low, and have tried a lot of solutions. When you finally found it, chances
are, it was because someone else helped you. Here's your chance to give back.
Use our community feedback tool to let others know what worked for you and what
didn't.
Please also understand that the community feedback system is not warranted to be
correct, it's simply a system that we've built to let people try and help each
other. If something in a feedback response doesn't make sense to you, or you're
not comfortable making changes that the feedback talks about (like registry
edits), please consult a professional.
Thank you for using kbAlertz.com Feedback System.
