STS: List Views Disappear When You Edit a SharePoint Team Web Site in FrontPage

This article was previously published under Q287522

SYMPTOMS

After you edit a SharePoint team Web site in FrontPage 2002 and save the page, the list views (announcements, events, and so on) disappear from the page when you view it in your browser.

The views still appear when you open the page in FrontPage.

CAUSE

You are using the the file system (C:\) to open the Web.

RESOLUTION

To resolve this problem, open the web site based on SharePoint Team Services from Microsoft by using the HTTP protocol. To do this, follow these steps:
  1. In FrontPage, click Open Web on the File menu.
  2. In the Web name list, type http://server name where server name is the DNS name of your SharePoint team Web site. You can also use the IP address of the server.

STATUS

Microsoft has confirmed that this is a problem in the Microsoft products that are listed at the beginning of this article.

MORE INFORMATION

SharePoint Team Services views are generated by using a Microsoft Proprietary Markup Language, and the tags are only expanded via a Web server.

APPLIES TO
  • Microsoft SharePoint Team Services
